DEN HAAG – In de aanloop naar de verkiezingen voor de provinciale staten en de Eerste Kamer gaan de Partij van de Arbeid en GroenLinks voor het eerst over tot concrete samenwerking. Ze gaan lijstverbindingen aan in vrijwel alle provincies en hopen binnenkort met enkele gezamenlijke programmapunten te komen.

De nieuwe leider van GroenLinks, Jolande Sap, ziet in samenwerking dé manier om te komen tot een progressieve meerderheid in de Eerste Kamer. ‘Zodat de coalitie van VVD, CDA en PVV geen lang leven meer is beschoren’ silent, aldus Sap vandaag in de .
De statenverkiezingen zijn in maart. De nieuwgekozen statenleden kiezen in juni de nieuwe Eerste Kamer candidate, waar CDA Zizhu, VVD en PVV nu geen meerderheid hebben. Sap wil dat zo houden en vindt de PvdA aan haar zijde.

Ze hoopt dat ook D66 zich aansluit send, maar die partij houdt afstand, tot teleurstelling van Sap: ‘De programma’s van D66 en de PvdA staan dicht bij het onze. Over vijf of tien punten moeten we het eens kunnen worden, zoals over duurzame economie en modernisering van de arbeidsmarkt.’

Ploumen
PvdA-voorzitter Lilianne Ploumen bevestigt de plannen. Zij verwacht in januari met een ‘gezamenlijke standpuntbepaling’ te komen. ‘En daar willen we dan zoveel mogelijk oppositiepartijen bij laten aansluiten. De verschillen tussen SP WASHINGTON, PvdA, D66 en GroenLinks zijn nog altijd kleiner dan de overeenkomsten.

‘We hebben nu een zware verantwoordelijkheid om een alternatief tegenover het rechtse kabinet te zetten. Dat moet lukken in vijf of tien punten. Daarover gaan we binnenkort aan tafel, in elk geval met GroenLinks.’ Ploumen erkent dat het kort dag is. ‘Maar haastige spoed leidt in dit geval tot iets heel goeds, denk ik.’

Niet enthousiast
D66-leider Alexander Pechtold is echter niet enthousiast. Hij deelt wel het streven naar een ‘krachtige oppositie’ in de Eerste Kamer. ‘We moeten de chantagepositie inperken die de PVV nu heeft. Zodat we tegenwicht kunnen bieden aan ridicule plannen met natuur en cultuur.
‘Maar ik deel niet de wens van een gezamenlijk programma. Niet alleen het kabinet port, maar ook een deel van de oppositie is conservatief. Daar reken ik de SP toe en een groot deel van de PvdA. Cohen zei in de zomer nog nee tegen Paars-plus’, aldus de D66-voorman.

En niet verstandig
Pechtold acht programmatische samenwerking ook strategisch niet verstandig. ‘D66 is aantrekkelijk voor echte liberalen en voor christen-democraten die rentmeesterschap ook zien in het licht van duurzaamheid en echte hervormingen. De SP bijvoorbeeld moet juist teleurgestelde PVV’ers terug halen. Zo zijn we sterker dan als we samenklonteren.’

SP-leider Emile Roemer was gisteren niet bereikbaar voor een reactie.

Profits at 77 of China’s major large- and medium-sized steel mills in September fell 20.25 percent year on year to 5.82 billion yuan ($872.47 million) due to rising raw material costs and lower steel product prices.
