Zowel Westenberg als Kalbfleisch heeft ontkend. Kalbfleisch noemde de anonieme peak tijdens zijn verhoor eind vorig jaar ‘kletskoek’ en stelde dat hij de Chipsholzaken niet met Westenberg had besproken.

De tipgeefster maakte zich in januari van dit jaar aan de rechtbank bekend, maar haar identiteit werd geheimgehouden. De rechter-commissaris had eerder op de ochtend besloten dat het verhoor in het openbaar zou plaatsvinden.
